How much can I spend a day until payday?
It's the question that matters before you buy something, and most budget apps leave you to work it out. Kachingz answers it on the Plan tab with one number: a daily allowance that lasts until your next payday.
Where the number comes from
Kachingz starts from Available to spend: your tracked balance, minus the bills due before payday and the money you've set aside. It then divides what's left by the days until payday, counting today but not payday itself.
Say you have S$1,100 available and payday is 10 days away. That's S$110 a day.
Keep something back
If you'd like money left over when your salary arrives, tap Keep back and enter the amount. It comes out before the daily figure is worked out, so keeping S$300 of that S$1,100 leaves S$80 a day.
Plan a big spend
A dinner on Saturday, a concert, a gift: tap Plan a spend, add the amount and the day, and the daily allowance makes room for it. Plans stay on your iPhone.
Compared with how you actually spend
Kachingz also shows your recent pace: what you spent over the last 30 days, divided by 30, quiet days included. If that pace would run you short before payday, it tells you which day, so you can slow down early instead of finding out at the end of the month.
Set it up
- Install Kachingz and add your pay schedule on the Plan tab.
- Add your bills and subscriptions, so their money is held back before payday.
- Log purchases as they happen. Apple Pay purchases can log themselves.
Your daily allowance updates with every purchase, and Mochi the cat walks the days to payday with you.
